Booming Jewelry Auction Industry
The results of Jewelry sale at Christie’s auction house has been the highest ever, in 2007. Not only was there an increase in the sale of contemporary jewelry, Natural Pearl jewelry, diamond jewelry and Kashmir sapphires were also the favorite among buyers.
According to François Curiel, Christie’s chairman of Jewelry, the colored diamonds were sold for over $1 million per carat and major colorless diamonds were sold for $100,000.
Bidding through internet has brought a revolution to the market with the participation of collectors from countries like Russia, China and Middle East. Hong Kong became the major center of sale for exceptional Jewelry.
